School Supplies For Teachers
The summer break has just been ending and now the time to go back to school
and teach. It’s been a tradition among many teachers to restock their school supplies before school starts.
Around this time, you can see a lot advertisement on newspaper, television and internet marketing school
supplies for teachers.
Depending on the school you go to, your school supplies should be done by the principal.
Depending on the school budget, you need to prioritize on the needs of the children. Nowadays, computers play
a vital role in the education of children. Some school requires
each student to have a laptop or netbook computer as part of their education requirements. The trend with
most schools are that they prefer to buy netbooks because they are portable, durable, cheaper than laptops
and some has limited functions to prevent children from playing games during class. But, for some schools,
laptop or netbook are luxury items. Most schools are not budgeted for it.
Another equipment most teachers now use screen projectors for PowerPoint presentation. They
are increasingly being used in most classrooms with the use of blackboards/whiteboards are declining. The
light bulb in a screen projector has a limited lifespan of a couple thousand hours. Usually they are needed
to be replaced every couple of years. The light bulb is the most expensive component of the screen projector
and can cost from a couple of hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. You can pick some up from a teacher
supply store.
In addition, you need to plan out what kind of activity you will be doing for the year. For
example, if you are a science teacher, you probably need to search for school lab equipment like Bunsen
burners or chemicals that will need later in the year. So write things down on paper what activity you will
be doing and what equipment is needed for it.
If you’re a P.E teacher, you would need to quantify how long the equipment will last for and
how many will be lost or stolen during the year. If you are not sure, consult another P.E teacher on the
recommend quantity or talk to a school supplier for teachers.
Before you spend the money on the
above equipment, make a small checklist on what the basic needs are for any of your students.
Here is a small list of the things that your student might need:
Notebook – Your students will need something to write notes on. This is
essential for every student.
Diary/Planner – Make sure you and your students have a way to note and keep
track of routines, homework and exams to perform. Students and teachers are forgetful at times so make sure
everyone has one so they won’t miss a deadline.
Paper – You will need paper for the computer printer and another one to write
on.
Pens, Pencil, Scissors, Glue, Stapler and Staples – Everyone should have a
pen and pencil to write notes.
Binder/Folder – You need this to put all your notes and paper into an
organized fashion. They are also great for holding paper together.
Text Books – This is probably one of the most expensive supplies that you
will need. Prices can range from a couple of dollars to hundreds of dollars.
