Have you ever calculated how much you spend on school supplies for your
children a year? For some parents, they may spend more than four thousand dollars a year. It’s even worse if
you go to a private or a specialist school. Some school will require you to buy certain expensive products
like a laptop computer or a scientific calculator. So the best thing to do is to buy cheap school supplies.
You don’t want any cheap supplies; you want high quality and durable school supplies that will last for
ages.
Here are several things you can do to ensure you get high quality and cheap school
supplies:
1. Shop for school
supplies online.
There are plenty of bargains online. You just have to be aware on which websites you use. Ebay
and Amazon are probably one of the most reputable and reliable online shops to buy school supplies. You can
usually find cheap school bags and expensive school clothes on sale. However, the only thing negative about
this is that you can’t really feel them. In addition, make sure you buy things at least a month before school
starts. The earlier you are, the cheaper the items are.
Other sites you can choose from are the online secondhand school textbooks. Most school
textbooks like mathematics textbooks rarely become obsolete. However, try to avoid secondhand textbooks about
information technology, programming and computers because they can become dated very quickly.
2. Shop during
back to school sales.
Every year, shops will have back to school sales. They are great to pick up a few bargains and
they usually start at least two weeks before school begins. Be sure that you buy things like pencils, pens
and notebooks in bulk and that will last you for a whole year. Usually, a lot of the big stores will have
discount school vouchers online so use search engines such as Google or Yahoo to find them.
3. Do not shop
with your children.
If you ever go shopping with kids, they will tend to buy something that you don’t really need
like electronic pencil sharpeners or funky looking stickers. Also, the longer you shop with your kids, the
more likely they will buy more stuff. Some kids will tend to start grabbing things and then will beg you to
buy the stuff or they will cry.
Instead, write down a list of things you need to buy or ask the school to see the list or
required things before you start shopping for cheap school supplies. Have a budget and estimate how much you
are willing to spend. When you done with your list, go to the school supply store and quickly get all the
things you need. With no kids, they will be less crying and begging.
4. Avoid school
supplies that have children brand names or movie/television character items.
If you go to any major school supply store, you will see hundreds of items with sesame
characters pictures on them or any other television show brands on them. They are usually more expensive to
buy with the same quality as other generic brands.
